GP2 Series Race 2 – The first chicane of Monza ruin the Richelmi’s race after a great start

With uncertain weather and worrying black clouds, the GP2 cars were aligned this morning on the starting grid of the second race scheduled for the Monza’s weekend. Stéphane Richelmi, yesterday 4th in Race 1, is started in 5th position for the reverse grid and, when the red lights was off, he has made a great start, overtaking 2 cars and he immediately has gone in 3rd place.

At the braking of the chicane, in an attempt to overtake, Bird got too close to Richelmi touching the car and breaking the rear wing of the DAMS. Richelmi had to go at the pit lane to change the piece, losing precious seconds. Back at the track, the race was already ruined and Stéphane had to settle for 25th position but he has made the best third sector in the race.

However, the italian weekend was positive thanks to the excellent 4th place yesterday and the good placement in the overall standings of the championship. The next event is in the Singapore circuit on 21 and 22 September.
