Points in Race 2 in Sochi for the MP Motorsport Formula 3 drivers

The last races of the FIA Formula 3 season took place at the Sochi circuit in Russia. The eight-race weekends long championship ended here in the old Olympic Park. There is still one race to go as an extra option, and that is the Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix, but it won’t affect the FIA Formula 3 Championship standings.  Qualifying: It was a sunny start of the afternoon with air temperatures around 24 degrees. Qualifying The qualifying started at 16:55 on a damp track with a little bit of rain. The drivers went out on soft tyres under challenging circumstances. The circuit was too dry for rain tyres, and it was going to improve each lap even with the new drips of rain that fell.Jordan King was 13th fastest and Mahaveer Raghunathan 17th fastest in their first push lap. Qualifying It stopped raining after the Formula 2 qualifying. Some sectors stayed damp, so each new lap was going to be a faster one during the Formula 3 qualifying. The soft slick tyres were the tyres everybody picked and went out on track with. The tyre degradation wasn’t so high because of the damp circumstances, and many drivers were able to do five push laps after each other. Qualifying The Formula 3 qualifying started straight after the Formula 2 qualifying in clear weather with 25 degrees. Everybody went straight out to stay in the rhythm of the tyres and field of drivers. Liam Lawson was 14th fastest after his first flying lap, Richard Verschoor 17th and Simo Laaksonen 20th. The second flying lap on their first set of tyres didn’t create enough of an improvement. The field went back in the pit for a new set of medium tyres. The Formula 2 races of this weekend canceled at SPA due to the serious accident that led to the loss of the driver Huber

After the bad accident in Race 1 in which Anthoine Hubert lost his life and the driver Juan Manuel Correa is still in serious condition, both Formula 2 races of this weekend have been canceled, while race 2 of the F3 will be disputed, preceded by from a minute of silence in memory of Anthoine. The F2 drivers will be present on the grid. Minute of silence that will be done even before the start of the F1 Grand Prix. Draco Marketing will put on its communication channels the sign of mourning for the loss of the Arden driver Hubert.

Qualifying The Formula 3 started their qualifying in dry conditions. Richard Verschoor and Liam Lawson both used three sets of new tyres during the qualifying after the saved one new set from the practice session. Both drivers went out on track to set a fast lap time. Qualifying The qualifying took place in rainy conditions with full wet tyres. It started straight away with a red flag after Mazepin span in his out lap. The time got stopped with 27 minutes and 56 seconds to go, but it got cleared up very quickly. Jordan King was 6th fastest in his first push lap with a lap time of 1:54.514 while Mahaveer Raghunathan was 19th at that moment. Qualifying The weather stayed dry after a little bit of rain in the morning. All the cars went straight out on track when the lights went on green. Richard Verschoor was 12th fastest after his first push lap, Liam Lawson was 18th and Simo Laaksonen 24th. Qualifying The track and weather condition was dry during the qualifying. All drivers got as usual two sets of new tyres to qualify on. Jordan King ended in his first run 15th with a lap time of 1:39.666 and Mahaveer Raghunathan finished his early run 17th. Jordan went into the pitlane with 19 minutes to go. He was as well one of the first drivers that went with new tyres back on track again. While everybody was changing their tyres, Jordan was starting his push lap.
